Farrier Joshua S. Weiant, 33, of Evergreen Hill Farm, Pa., a small farmette in Duncannon, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was 33.
Weiant had been battling leukemia since 2012.
He graduated from ELCO High School in 2000 and went on to attend the Kentucky Horseshoeing School in Richmond, Ky., where he graduated and became a farrier in 2003. Most recently, he graduated in 2014 from Millersville University, where he earned a nursing degree. He was employed as a registered nurse, specializing in hematology and oncology at M.S. Hershey Medical Center since 2009.
Weiant enjoyed outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, running and kayaking. He was fond of breeding horses and was a member of the American Holsteiner Horse Association and the Belgian Warmblood North American Division.
A celebration of life will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Cornerstone Christian Church, 595 New Bloomfield Rd., Duncannon, Pa. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial contributions to Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association, 168 Station Road, Grantville, PA, 17028; and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. However, donations to one’s charity of choice are encouraged as well.
