Chester Township, Ohio, farrier Richard Peterson passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. He was 70.
Peterson and his father Vern established Misty Morn Farm, raising and showing registered Welsh ponies for more than 50 years. His daughter Ashley later joined them and raised numerous national champion ponies.
Peterson was the first American to win the Gentleman’s Driving Class at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
Peterson was able to take his passion for ponies and turn it into a highly successful, life-long career as a farrier in which he served many equestrian facilities in the area.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland. A service of remembrance will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
