The American Farm Bureau Federation appointed Burgettstown, Pa., farrier David Bentrem to a 2-year term on its national Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee.
The 16-member committee plans the federation’s programs for farmers and ranchers between the ages of 18 and 35 in hopes of encouraging them to choose agriculture as a profession and help them stay in it.
“I know it’s a livelihood that I don’t want to see disappear,” says Bentrem, who is a certified journeyman farrier who went to the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School in Purcell, Okla.
