Mackinaw, Ill., farrier Bob Newman passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016. He was 56.
After graduating from Dee-Mack High School in 1977, Newman followed his dream of working with horses by graduating as a licensed farrier from Midwest Horseshoeing School, which was in Macomb, Ill., at that time. Expanding on his love of working with race horses, he became an owner, trainer, driver and farm manager. He was a member of the Illinois Harness Racing Association and Jaycees.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery.
