American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
Three farriers and three veterinarians were honored for their outstanding careers in equine footcare during Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies at the 13th annual International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Farriers Steve Kraus, Steve Bloom and Jim Blurton joined the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame, while Scott Pleasant, Rustin Moore and Florian Buchner were added to the International Equine Veterinarian Hall Of Fame.
Steve Kraus of Trumansburg, N.Y., is the head farrier at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he works to educate the next generation of farriers and provides hoofcare for the university hospital. He also teaches vet students at the university. In addition, Kraus is a well-known clinician for Delta Mustad and has performed lectures around the world. He has been the farrier consultant for Mustad since 1976.
Kraus has built a successful farrier practice in the Finger Lakes region where he specializes in troubleshooting under-performing horses. His client list includes hunter/jumpers, dressage and event horses, among others. He is a past president of the Western New York Farriers Association and a member of the board of directors for region 5 of the American Farrier’s Association.
