Neil Miller wouldn't want to show up at a customer’s barn with just his name plastered on the side of a marginal-looking shoeing rig. Instead, the Brighton, Colo., farrier has his name inscribed within a colorful mural painted on the side of his brand-new, fancy rig.

“If I’m going to charge good money for my work, I want to look like I’m worth it,” Miller says of his new rig, which he purchased in July, 2002. “I want to present myself in a professional manner, so I don’t want to pull up to a barn in a beat-up old piece of junk.”

Old Ideas With New Twist

After 15 years, it was time for Miller to scrap his old rig. But, he didn’t forget what worked in the past when helping the designers on this new rig. 

“I like the double-door drops on the side and the double door in the back,” Miller explains. “It’s almost the exact same width of my last one, and the setup is almost the same as my last rig, except that this one is made of aluminum and the other was made of steel.”
