Horseshoeing has provided me with a fantastic business opportunity, allowed me to leave corporate America behind and to become more involved with my two daughters’ passion—horses.
I am a member of both North Carolina farrier organizations, North Carolina Horseshoers Association (NCHA) and Southern Horseshoers On Education (SHOE). I am currently a board member for the latter.
I am running for vice president of the AFA because I want to represent the membership. The horse industry in general and the farrier industry specifically are experiencing exciting times.
More money is being spent in our industry than ever before and it seems this will continue in the foreseeable future. AFA under the leadership of President Emil Carré has taken steps to keep its status as the leading organization in the farrier industry. I want to join this team and keep the momentum rolling.
Many farriers do not see the benefit of AFA membership, including many specialty farriers. I want to help AFA do a better job of reaching out to the entire farrier community. To reach these colleagues I want AFA to have a physical presence at more local and regional events.
I also believe AFA officers need more face time with the general membership. I want every farrier to be as excited about AFA as I am. Remember, the larger the organization, the stronger our voice and the better benefits we can provide to all.
