Former New Jersey farrier Ben Gurczynski of Ocala, Fla.. passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016. He was 83.
Gurczynski was an adventurer with a passion for the life of a cowboy and found himself working on ranches in Texas. Soon after, he became involved in the rodeo circuit and a member of the Professional Rodeo Association. He and his wife Mary settled down in New Jersey to raise a family. Gurczynski spent the majority of his working career as a farrier enjoying his passion for horses. He finished his working years at Ortho Pharmaceutical before retiring to the former home of his parents in Ocala, Fla. in the mid 1990s.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala. Mass will follow at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17th St., Ocala. Entombment will follow at Highlands Memorial Park Mausoleum.
