Elizabethtown, Ky., farrier Roy Earl Harned passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his home. He was 82.
He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in delivery and sales for 15 years before leaving to focus on his true passion as a full-time farrier. He loved horses and retired after 60 years of shoeing. He provided carriage rides in Glendale for 23 years and worked at county fair horse shows. He never met a stranger and loved people. He was honest and spoke his mind. He was a member and past president of the Central Kentucky Draft Horse Association and an honorary member of the Larue County Saddle Club.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, and continues from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
