The Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners announced the launch of its inaugural scholarship for farrier and veterinary students.
“Since its inception the NEAEP has been an innovative and collaborative organization providing high-quality continuing education for veterinarians and farriers in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada,” according to the NEAEP. “We are proud to be able to offer a paid scholarship providing travel, accommodation, registration and wet lab attendance at our yearly symposium to one veterinary student and one farrier student. Additionally, the student will be offered mentorship and special interaction during the symposium by a current member of the Board of Directors of the NEAEP.”
The symposium will be conducted from Sept. 20-23 in Norfolk, Va. Farrier students must be a graduate from a minimum 12-week program and should be actively working as an apprentice with another farrier. Students who are in their second and third years (classes of 2018 and 2019) of veterinary school with an interest in equine practice may apply. The application deadline is June 1, 2017, and applicants should send their essay responses and reference name and phone number to neaepstudentprogram@gmail.com.
