The Scottish World Champion farrier team will demonstrate their horseshoeing skills to the public at the Perth Show in Perth, Scotland.

The Perth Show, taking place Aug. 4-5, 2017, is an annual livestock and agriculture showcase featuring local vendors and craftspeople. The Scottish World Champion farrier team’s live shoeing will be one of the most popular events of the show, according to Neil Forbes, Perth Show secretary.

“People love to watch them work and we’re delighted to welcome the squad to Perth and see them showcase their amazing skills,” Forbes told The Courier.

Seeing the team in action together is a rare opportunity, given that the four members are from across the U.K. Their appearance together will be their first this year.

Team manager and farrier Jim Balfour told The Courier that the show will be a good opportunity for the squad to practice before England’s International Team Horseshoeing competition in September.

“Scotland has lifted the coveted Championship for the past 2 years,” Balfour says. “But other countries are snapping at our heels and we welcome the chance for some team practice.”

Sixteen teams will compete in the championship, which Scotland has won for the past 2 years. Balfour hopes that they can take the prize again.

“Perth Show will provide the perfect platform to not only show off our skills to the public but also to perfect our team approach for our bid for the championship hat-trick.”
