Canastota, N.Y., farrier Robert W. “Bob” Baker passed away Oct. 14, 2017.

Baker had 50 years of experience as a blacksmith and served as a dedicated farrier at the New York State Fair. His passion for horses extended to judging horse shows and organizing charitable trail rides for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 4, 2017, at the Canal Street VFW in Canastota. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Baker’s name to Ride 4 Life Therapeutic Horseback Riding, 7762 N. Court St., Canastota, N.Y. 13032 or the Stone Mills Museum.
