Thurmont, Md., farrier Gene Leon Bennett passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. He was 89.
Bennett attended the University of Michigan to be a farrier. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He loved animals dearly, especially horses and was an avid horseman. He was retired from the state of Maryland as a farm service representative. He also served as the superintendent for the Frederick County 4-H Horse and Pony Program.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Hwy., (Rte. 15) Frederick, MD 21701. Those wishing to attend may meet inside the main gate by 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice or to the Frederick County Humane Society, 550 Highland St., Ste. 200, Frederick, MD 21701.
