Blacksmith Buddies pairs up teams of farrier and veterinary student to teach and learn from one another in a positive, fun environment. Each team will dissect an equine distal limb in the morning, enjoy a BBQ lunch, then work together to trim and shoe the foot in the afternoon. Teams will compete for great prizes in contests like fastest shoe-pull, most intricate dissection, and Eagle-eye shoe fit and design. Blacksmith Buddies aims to foster the critical relationship between veterinarian and farrier while bridging the gap in equine podiatry education in veterinary curriculum.
