September 26- 27 Willoughby Forge will be hosting a forging competition at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Indiana. Roy Bloom will be the judge. Teams of two will be required to make two pitching shoes on Saturday, then all qualifying teams will be in a horseshoe pitching tournament the next day using the shoes that they made on Saturday.
The teams will also be required to forge a steak turner on the same day as the pitching shoes are made.
This class will be two hours. Drills and grinders can be used.
The steak turner class will be two hours of creative forging.
8 1/2” of 5/8” square will be forged to any style of steak turner you can create. Then on that evening they will be auctioned off to the public, the proceeds that your steak turner brings is given to the team that made it. So the cooler the better!
There will be an entry fee of $150 per team and that includes two meals a day served off of the Handu Chuck Wagon. There will be a cash payout for the top 3 teams that place in the pitching tournament.
