Mount Sterling, Ky., farrier Everett Rayburn passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. He was 74. 

Rayburn learned farriery from his grandfather, who was a blacksmith, and worked in the Winchester-Lexington area for many years. He also worked as a journeyman bricklayer when he was young.

A memorial service will take place September 29 at the Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals in Mount Sterling, Ky. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., and the memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Those who wish to do so may make memorial contributions in Rayburn's honor at Bluegrass Care Navigators, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.
