Normandy, Tenn., farrier John Raymond Schmidt passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2019. He was 81.
Schmidt was a legend in the Tennessee Walking Horse community, and known as one of the premier farriers in the industry for more than 40 years. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast with a special gift to make things run. He loved life and left everyone with a smile on their face and laughter in their hearts. Survivors include his son John Schmidt, a Shelbyville, Tenn., farrier.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Doak-Howell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery.
