Former Dalton, Mass., farrier David Wellspeak passed away Monday, March 27, 2023. He was 80.

Wellspeak joined the United States Air Force following graduation from Wahconah Regional High School. He received training as an electrician, which led to a 38-year career with Western Mass Electric Co.

Always striving to learn more, Wellspeak followed his passion for horses by learning farriery at the University of Maine. He tended to horses’ hooves for 20 years. In 1986, he established Wellspeak Photography. He preserved the memories of many brides and families during this time.
