The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana, Ill., is accepting applications for a farrier intern.
The program provides training in the diagnosis, treatment and postoperative management of a range of equine foot problems. Interns will work closely with journeyman farriers and other equine clinicians to assist in the therapeutic trimming and shoeing of client- and university-owned horses. Interns also will be responsible for supply inventory, cleaning and other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include at least 1 year of experience as a farrier or the completion of a 12-week farrier course. The hourly rate for this position is $17.81.
