Just as with any other job, there are surely those frustrating days when you ask yourself, “Why did I get myself into this?” The culmination of the rat-race from barn to barn, the sore back, the early mornings and late nights, and the sweat-filled summer days may have you pondering this question from time to time. It’s only natural.
Many farriers are “called” to the profession by their respect for the horse and its care. But with the relentless barn-hopping, sometimes-difficult clients and overall frenetic pace of your day, it’s easy to lose sight as to why you chose farriery in the first place.
This time for reflection, plus gaining some important industry recognition, is why American Farriers Journal is again sponsoring National Farriers Week, July 11 to 17, 2004.
The staff at American Farriers Journal is issuing news releases in advance of the sixth annual National Farriers Week to help the horse community, and the general public, understand the valuable role played by the nation’s horseshoers. While the farrier may not always be front-and-center in all horse owners’ minds, the smart owners know and appreciate what a dedicated and knowledgeable farrier brings to both their lives and those of horses. They know the truth in the words, “no hoof, no horse.”
