Drawing on more than 40 years of experience as a farrier, as well as being a practicing veterinarian, Redden guides the reader through the process of using radiographs from the initial cleaning of the hoof to how to spot troubles in the hoof using an X-ray.
Redden’s book may only be 28 pages long, but it is loaded with everything anyone would need to know about radiographs. If there is any question about preparing the foot, using wooden position blocks, radiograph exposure factors, angles of exposures and what to look for on the radiograph, it will be answered in this book.
What makes this book valuable is that Redden uses color pictures of external hooves and compares them to the internal radiograph picture of the same foot. While the external picture of a foot may lead to one diagnosis, the internal radiograph clearly shows what the actual problem is.
