American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
On Sept. 28, 2001, the Executive Committee met in Lexington, Ky. to address last minute concerns and prepare for the mid-year board meeting the following day. I am happy to announce both these meetings went well and once again we were able to accomplish what we had set out to do, while keeping a forward pace, and progress our focus.
One thing is clear, the American Farrier’s Association (AFA) may never get to that desired place where the president and the executive committee can do their separate and combined elected jobs without outside interference and micro-management from those who would have life remain difficult. Our hope is that soon we might understand the difference between leadership and management and let those charged with the responsibility do them!
At this particular meeting “communication” seemed to be on the minds of at least one small focus group. It has always been our practice to report those things ready to report or worthy of reporting through monthly reports to the membership at large, memos to the executive committee from the office, quarterly reports to the board as well as regular reports from Executive Director John McCutchen. We have now been directed to provide more.
