The CBS news affiliate in Chicago, Ill., recently featured Morocco, Ind., farrier Fritz Werner in its "Someone You Should Know" segment.
Werner began his career after watching others shoeing his horses.
“I realized it wasn't exactly a job for everyone, but I felt that I could do it,” he says. “So I began to purchase my tools, purchase books and study, and began to trim my own horses’ feet.”
After shoeing for 12 years, he finds that it takes a lot of patience, concentration and dedication.
“This is a hard job, but it’s a very honest way to earn a living,” he says. “What I love about it the most is the reward of watching a horse trot off and buck up and jump. It’s a rewarding feeling.”
