Macon, Ga., farrier Robert Langford Herndon passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017. He was 87.
After serving in the Army National Guard, he worked as a blacksmith at Robins Air Force Base from where he retired after 50 years of service. During this time he also worked around town as a farrier for many local horse owners and made orthopedic shoes for horses that needed them.
A service to celebrate Herndon’s life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Febr. 2, 2017, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Herndon’s memory to The Georgia Academy for the Blind, 2895 Vineville Ave., Macon, GA 31204.
