American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
For the 12th consecutive year, American Farriers Journal is proud to sponsor National Farriers Week. From July 11-17, we’re encouraging the horse-owning public to take notice of the hard work and dedication that farriers put on display 365 days a year, as well as asking them to acknowledge the important role that hoof-care professionals play in the health of their horses.
It’s no accident that National Farriers Week occurs during the busiest season for most farriers. We know that’s when your dedication and professionalism are most evident, but figure that it’s also the time you could most use a little recognition and reinforcement from your clients.
“It’s when the long shoeing days are piling up and they’ve gone weeks without a day off that farriers most need a pat on the back,” says Frank Lessiter, editor and publisher of American Farriers Journal. “Shoeing horses is hard, yet rewarding work. We think it’s important for horse owners to understand that when farriers say they are in this ‘for the good of the horse,’ they mean it. It’s much more than a slogan.”
In anticipation of National Farriers Week, the AFJ staff has issued press releases to dozens of general horse publications to help everyone understand the knowledge, skills and work ethic needed for a farrier to do his job well.
