Indiana farrier Melvin “Chuck” Dugger passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Dugger started shoeing horses at the age of 15. Starting in 1957, he was the farrier for the Indiana and Ohio State Fairs for 27 years. Later he manufactured and distributed his horse hoof product called Perflex. He was inducted into the Indiana Horseman’s Hall of Fame in 1993. He was called a “True Living Legend.” In 1969, he formed Chuck Dugger Realty while also continuing shoeing horses.
Services will be 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Conkle Funeral Home Avon with visitation starting at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.conklefuneralhome.com.
