Hoof abscesses are a common cause of lameness. And there are many different theories on how to best treat one.

A farrier for more than 40 years in Wisconsin and Florida, Red Renchin will discuss the identification and treatment of abscesses. After introducing several ways to treat abscesses, he will explain his preference. He will go over management and client education after treating an abscess. Renchin also will cover when treating an abscess is beyond the role of the farrier and a veterinarian should be called in.
