Each competitor must supply a freestanding workstation including fire extinguisher, and use 20-pound propane bottles. No trucks will remain in the arena. Competitors must supply a horse holder. SATURDAY, OCT. 15 9:00-10:30 AM – Vedder Room Hans Castelijns CF, DVM. Hoof and limb care on the stud farm. How to take care of the broodmare, what to watch out for in the critical first 6 months of the foal’s development, the upkeep on weanlings and yearlings, how to maintain stallion’s feet. 10:45-12:00 PM – Vedder Room Conrad Trow, CJF – Hind end lameness. Looking at different ways to help the horse on the hind end do their job and keep feet in good shape. 2:30-4:00 PM – Fraser Room Hans Castelijns CF, DVM – An update on laminitis; prevention, first aid, the sub-acute and chronic patient. SUNDAY, OCT. 16 9:00 – 10:15 AM – Vedder Room Hans Castelijns CF, DVM. – Different styles and traditions in farriery. 10:30 – 11:30 AM – Vedder Room Conrad Trow, CJF – Fitting feet. One of the most important jobs as a farrier. Setting up feet to make it easier to fit and benefit the horse. 11:45 – 12:30 PM – Vedder Room Hans Castelijns CF, DVM - Onycomicosis, prevention and treatment, from mild to serious. 1:00 – 3:00 PM – Outside Demos
