Getting the New Year Off on the Right Foot

Take the time to put together goals for the next 12 months and find someone to hold you accountable for striving to reach them

Start by making a simple business plan, goal sheet, or things-to-do list. Having a list provides a great visual reminder of the things you want and need to accomplish. Keep this list on your desk or in your truck so it will be constant reminder of your progress on getting where you want to be.

Make Time For Education

Write down the dates and names of clinics, conventions, certifications and such that you want to attend during the year. Then sit down and block out that time in your schedule.

It is amazing how many farriers I hear say they wanted to attend this or that clinic, but just had too hectic of a work schedule and too many customers to reschedule when the event rolled around. Blocking out your schedule ahead of time will eliminate that problem and allow you to plan accordingly.

Schedule a time in the morning or evening to commit to studying. Half an hour is a good start. Do not just read a book. Pick one topic and read everything you can find about it, in every book you own or on the Internet…
