Farrier Pat Ennis has passed away, according to the Texas Professional Farriers Association. He was 68.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam war, Ennis was a graduate of the Cornell University Farrier Program and worked as a farrier for 50 years in New York, Colorado and Texas. Ennis and Bandera, Texas, farrier Donnie Walker became two of the oldest — 65 and 67 respectively — to become certified journeyman farriers in March 2013.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse. Ennis will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ennis’ memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 344 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
