Blacksmith Heals More Than Just Horses

When Everett Stone began his farrier career at 16, he wasn’t thinking beyond his initial desire to help horses. In his area, the ground wore hooves down very quickly. Noting this, he went to an Oklahoma City horseshoeing school and started his own farrier business. For 14 years, he worked on protecting horse hooves, not immune system cells, but that would come in time.

[Video] 2019 American Farrier’s Association Convention Vern Hornquist Memorial Class

Watch International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame member Roy Bloom of Drummond, Wis., as he forges the winning shoe during the Vern Hornquist Memorial Class at the 2019 American Farrier’s Association Convention in Tulsa, Okla. Bloom forged a 10 1/4” x 3/8” x 1” shoe from a 4 1/2” x 5” piece of aluminum bar stock. The toe must be 3/16” and the heel must be 1/2”. It also must fit six #4 city head nails.

Lee Liles’ Horseshoeing Museum Is Moving To Oklahoma City

The National Museum of Horse Shoeing Tools will call the Historic Stockyards City its home
The late Lee Liles dedicated his life to preserving the heritage of farriery with the creation of the National Museum of Horse Shoeing Tools and Hall Of Honor. Nine months after his passing, Liles’ family delivered a valentine to their patriarch and the farrier industry by announcing the collection will have a permanent home in Oklahoma City, Okla.
